last few years I have nearly perfected a method that allows
me to run regular ads in the local newspapers & attract
new students; the ads that I run capture a lot of attention.
I get a lot of calls and my self-defense classes are always
full.
Always
full. How about that?
As you
sit here at the computer maybe you are thinking I just had all
this marketing wisdom dropped into my cranium and I am ready
to revolutionize the Karate world....ahhh not quite ;)
No, I did
what every good student does; I studied. I have so far spent
$1497.09 on books, ebooks, audio CD's and video
to learn what I needed to know...now I am sharing this
information with you.
Let me
tell you my story.
After living
in Asia for five years my family and I settled back in Canada
to plant our roots. I wanted to begin teaching Karate again.
I have
always thought my Karate was pretty good, but I also wanted
to make sure my classes were successful and decided to run a
few short programs to see if I was up to teaching again and
to see what the area would support.
I was doing
my homework.
- How
do you advertise your Karate classes?

is what I did; I ran an ordinary advertisement in the local
weekly paper & posted the flyers around town.
Then I
waited, I gave it ten days for the test to be fair. I ran the

NOTE: I live in a small town of about 1400 (men, women,
children, dogs, cats, and cattle)…..I ran the ads
and got one student.
One student…..just
one. I welcomed my one student but I was troubled; were people
not interested in Karate anymore?
I was doing
some serious reflection to say the least, I was looking at my
style, teaching methods...and then it hit me.
No one
knows me so how can anything about my teaching syllabus be a
factor....and it wasn't. I simply was not getting the
response I wanted.
So I went
to do some more homework, this time to the book store. I started
buying everything I could get my hands on about advertising,
marketing, copy writing; when I had most of the 'best selling'
books I switched to audio and video....
What
I learned was astonishing. I learned how to tweak my ad in such
a way to elicit an emotional response & compel my target
readers to call me!

I switched
form the humdrum ‘classic’ Karate advertisement
to using a few marketing techniques so powerful that when I
ran the new ad in a new way.....I gained 60 students overnight!

I had one...and then I had 60 new sign-ups. All from changing
